After a year of ministry, we found inspiration in Isaiah 1:17, emphasizing the importance of doing good by seeking justice, relieving the oppressed, defending the orphan, and pleading for the widow. To our amazement, our accomplishments aligned evenly with these mandates.
Here is how VSI is fulfilling these mandates:
- Seeking justice: Teaching in alignment with spiritual principles
- Relieving the oppressed: Promoting self-sufficiency through sustainable living
- Defending the orphan: Preventing orphanhood by supporting mothers’ well-being
- Pleading for the widow: Empowering abandoned women for self-reliance
Despite the efforts of many organizations, the number of orphans in Africa increased from 40 million in 2000 to 54 million in 2020. We at VSI attribute this rise to the daily loss of 400 mothers due to malnutrition-related issues. Our defense of orphans focuses on educating mothers on affordable nutrition and health practices to prevent orphanhood.
For widows, including abandoned women, VSI provides support and income-generating opportunities to promote self-sufficiency. We work closely with these women, offering brainstorming sessions, skill training, and educational assistance to help them become self-reliant.
Vintage Skills International is dedicated to walking alongside vulnerable individuals, offering practical solutions and support to improve their lives and create sustainable pathways to self-sufficiency.
